VIN Decoding
InCircuit's Fleet Management solutions now include online VIN-decoding. This feature provides analysis and validation of the VIN number for passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, trailers and motorcycles. It provides detailed information, and allows users to: 
  • Validate the entire VIN including the check digit for accuracy
  • Correct VIN errors
  • Generate standard vehicle descriptions and classifications
  • Return full spellings of vehicle make and series name 
  • Obtain more than 50 other elements of vehicle data 

Using the ISO standards employed in every VIN number, we are able to offer a more consistent vehicle description and classification system. Using this VIN-based classification system, our user defined maintenance options have been expanded to better address the needs of each class of vehicle.

Because the VIN decoding functionality is a live service, the accuracy and consistency of the original asset entry into InCircuit's Fleet Management Software will be better than ever. InCircuit includes real-time validation and will not allow the entry of an incorrect VIN onto a vehicle record. All values that are defined by the VIN are auto-populated onto the asset record, saving time and further improving the accuracy and consistency of data. VIN decoding will include over 50 additional data elements that can be used to standardize record classification and guarantee accuracy.

InCircuit also provides retroactive decoding of VIN numbers for all active vehicle assets. This will provide immediate correction and discrepancy reports for agencies that have entered VIN numbers or vehicle details incorrectly.
